First Grade News

Summer 201

Dear Parents,

            Welcome to the first grade!  I am anxiously awaiting the start of the school year and the opportunity to teach your children!  I anticipate a smooth transition from kindergarten to first grade.  This is the first of many newsletters you will receive this year.  I hope you will find the information helpful and can expect to be informed about classroom curriculum and activities, volunteer opportunities, field trips, etc.  Please read on for important information regarding the first day of school!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Below is a list of supplies your child should bring to school on the first day. It would be helpful for your child to be aware that these supplies are classroom supplies to be shared by all of the students.  That is, the supplies your child brings to school may not necessarily go into his/her personal pencil box. 

·       10 Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencils pencils sharpened by parent

·       9 small glue sticks *Elmers or Avery

·       1 package of Crayola crayons – 16 in a package

·       1 package of Crayola colored pencils – 12 in a package

·       1 package of Crayola, wide tip, washable makers – basic colors

·       1 box of tissue

·       1 80 ct, pop up Baby Wipes

·       1 package of four expo low odor dry erase markers

·       $2 for a 3 ring notebook (teacher will purchase so that books will be uniform)

In addition to the school supplies listed, your child will need a backpack.  All other supplies will be provided in our classroom.  Thank you so much for your support!

SNACK

We have a snack time each day.  Please send a simple snack for your child to eat along with a spoon or fork if the snack requires one. Sending in a reusable water bottle for your child is both eco-friendly and encourages more time in the classroom for learning.

SCHOOL LUNCH

Memorial School uses NUTRIKIDS POS to help make purchasing lunch easy and efficient for your child.  Please visit the Food Services page for more information on the mySchoolBucks system.  If you do not choose to use this system, your child will need a durable change purse labeled with his/her name (no baggies please).  This minimizes the chance of money getting lost during the day.  Prices are as follows:

·       Lunch (including milk) - $2.35

·       Milk only - $ .50

                          

Please be sure that your child knows if and/or what he/she is to buy each day.
