Well, 2015 has given us lots freezing temps and snow for the kiddos to play in!  When we have to stay if for recess and we need go get our wiggles out we like to use Gonoodle.  This is a website that gets us moving and grooving.  Here we are enjoying a quick break with Gonoodle:

We also got to read with a buddy across the hall in Mrs. Elrick's class.  Each student was paired up with a friend from Mrs Elrick's class and we read books to each other.  It was really fun for everyone to practice their reading with someone new!

We also had a special visitor come to school.   Johnny the K!  We wore our silly hats and learned about character.  Through his songs we learned to be good friends and good citizens.

In writers workshop we did a lot of editing of our information books.  We read our books with partners and small groups to get feedback to make our stories even better!  We learned that when writers teach about their topic, this helps them add more.  We also learned that reading our books to others helps us to improve our books.  There are so many topics that the kids are knowledgable about.  Its wonderful for them to share this information with there classmates.   I am so impressed with the amount of writing all the students are doing.  We also set goals for our writing and worked in small groups to work on our goals with students that had the same goal.   We are excited to move on to writing chapter books next!

Our class started our wonder project.  For our project we are learning about American symbols.  With a partner we were given an American symbol and we came up with a driving question that we wanted to find the answer to.  Mrs Groden taught us how to use Pebble Go and we researched our symbol to answer our question.  Stay tuned for the final project were we will share all that we learned!
