MarchMadness

There is lots going on in room 28!

We had a special presentation from Marla who came from Stoneybrook Wildlife Santuary.  She taught us about four different habitats and in groups we drew one habitat and made sure our habitats had everything in it that our animal needs to survive.  This ties in nicely with the science unit we are currently working on in our classroom.

She surprised us and brought a friend to the lesson!

Math

In math we have started to work on telling time.  We practice time daily in our morning meeting and have played a clock game.  We are learning how to tell time on the hour and half hour.  We have also been working with two digit numbers.  We have added one more and one leass as well as ten more and ten less.  We have games that we play to work on adding ten and also knowing the place value of each digit in a two digit number.

 Morning Tubs

We were excited to see four new tubs come into our classroom!  We have alphabet dice to make words,  straws to create, beads and sting as well as these cool building tools!

 Read Across America

We had a great week celebrating read across america and Dr Suess' birthday.  We had a spicial visior...Johnny the K!  He sang songs and had great messages about respect, treating others kind and showing compassion to others.

Writers Workshop

We have been working on our non fiction chapter books.  We have learned so much about how to write as teachers and sharing facts we know about topics.  Our books are like real non fiction books with a table of contents, introductions, details in our pictures and vocabulry specific to our topic.  We even used books and pebble go to gather infomation about our topics we are writing about.

We read our books to other so they can help us to add to our topics.
